JEL A14 Sociology of Economics
The latest issue of the journal, continuing a more than fifteen-year tradition of advancing the concept of theoretical economics, is devoted to analyzing profound transformations of socio-economic systems amidst digitalization and global challenges. The materials are united by a shared aspiration to offer new approaches to understanding the changing nature of economic relations. The section «Current Issues in Theoretical Economics» examines fundamental shifts engendered by technological progress. The transition to a human-machine system is substantiated, wherein end-to-end digital technologies, above all artificial intelligence, become autonomous institutions of development and transform the content of basic economic categories. Using the education system as a case study, the issue of AI-assisted plagiarism is also investigated, with an analysis of the capabilities and limitations of punitive and preventive measures in combating academic dishonesty. The «New Industrialization» section turns to the applied aspects of innovative growth. Institutional approaches to ensuring the sustainability of corporate structures in the electric power industry are revealed, along with the role of vocational education in training personnel for creative industries as drivers of regional development. The concluding section, «Contemporary Issues in the World Economy,» brings together research addressing the global agenda. The contradictions between economic growth, innovation, and environmental sustainability in developing countries are analyzed; a theoretical and methodological approach to shaping national export support systems is proposed; latent mechanisms of cross-border lending by transnational corporations are uncovered; and the concept of sustainable decoupling is substantiated as a target guideline for modern environmental regulation. The works presented demonstrate the heuristic potential of theoretical economics in the search for responses to today’s pressing challenges.
