The research is devoted to analyzing the relationship between the level of education of the population and indicators of social inequality in the EAEU countries in the long-term time interval. The hypothesis of the study is that there should be an inverse relationship between the level of education in society and social inequality – the availability of education creates prerequisites for equalization of inequality in society. The correlation analysis was used to study the relationship between three proxy indicators characterizing the level of education (public expenditures on education) and social inequality (Gini index, HDI). The results obtained do not allow us to verify the hypothesis put forward in the paper: in most cases a positive, and in some countries statistically significant, correlation between public investment in education and quality of life was recorded; at the same time, the relationship between expenditures on education and the level of social inequality was statistically insignificant. The results emphasize that education spending alone is not sufficient to achieve a sustainable reduction in social inequality.
