The article examines the impact of changes in the external economic environment on the functioning of the Russian metallurgical complex under conditions of global economic uncertainty, sanctions pressure, and transformation of global steel markets. The relevance of the study is determined by the contraction of traditional export destinations, the intensification of geopolitical risks, and the growing need to diversify the foreign economic activities of Russian metallurgical companies. The research analyzes current trends in the global ferrous metals market and identifies key geo-economic, infrastructural, technological, and regulatory factors constraining the export potential of the Russian metallurgical industry. Particular attention is paid to the effects of sanctions, price volatility, environmental requirements, and the sector’s dependence on imported metallurgical equipment. Based on structural and dynamic analysis of statistical data, the paper formulates fundamental principles for entering new segments of the global market, including the geographical reorientation of export flows, technological modernization, development of transport and logistics infrastructure, and digital transformation of production processes. A map of the international presence of Russian metallurgical companies is compiled, enabling the identification of both export bottlenecks and promising growth areas, primarily in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. The study concludes that leading Russian ferrous metal producers demonstrate a high capacity to adapt to external economic challenges due to economies of scale, product diversification, and flexible export strategies.
