The relevance of the research is due to the need to develop new scientific approaches to defining the essence and structure of the digital core of the business model of a modern smart-oriented enterprise, highlighting its key components and functions. The purpose of the study is to reveal the definition of the digital core of a smart-oriented enterprise, its economic essence and structure. To achieve this goal, a number of relevant tasks have been set: to define the concept of «digital core»; to identify the role of the digital core in the structure of the business model of a smart enterprise; to identify the key components of the digital core and substantiate their functional significance; to explore the place of advanced digital technologies in the architecture of the digital core; to analyze the integration of the digital core with the business processes of the enterprise; to identify the main problems of digital transformation in the formation of a digital core, as well as to propose strategies to overcome the identified implementation problems. The research is based on systematic and structural approaches, methods of analysis and synthesis, and the use of general scientific methods of comparison and generalization. The article reveals the essence and structure of the digital core of the smart-oriented enterprise business model as an integrated platform combining cloud resources, data, analytical circuits and information security tools. Scientific approaches to its definition are considered, key components and functions are highlighted, and their role in improving the efficiency of functional areas of the enterprise is shown. It is determined that in order to deploy the digital core, it is necessary to institutionalize change management and competence development by approving budgeting regulations and criteria for selecting technological solutions. The study identified key barriers to digital transformation (financial, economic, organizational, technical, cultural, and technological) and proposed strategic measures to overcome them, including phased implementation, a focus on staff development, and the formation of a team of change leaders.
