The purpose of the study is an essential analysis of the category «digitalization of the economy» in relation to Russia, based on consideration of its nature, genesis and further evolution in the context of the network transformation of the economy and geopolitical changes. The objectives of the analysis are to clarify the qualitative characteristics of digitalization, consider the investment component of the Data Economics program, and study the dynamics of the main directions of digital transformation of the national economy in modern conditions. The analysis of the process of digital transformation of the economy has shown that with the development of information technology, global changes began to occur in the system of economic relations, radically changing the mechanism of social reproduction, the content of intersubjective interaction based on digital financial platforms. As a result, at the moment, economic theory and business practice are faced with completely new phenomena in economic development due to the development of the digital environment. Information, its use, application and storage began to play a dominant role in economic development. In addition to the development of the technological component, the entire system of economic relations in the real and financial sectors, as well as the system of state regulation, is changing, which make it possible to create new scientific ideas about the essence and prospects of the development of the digital economy in Russia. The article presents the author’s presentation of insufficiently researched issues of adjusting the investment component of Russia’s state digitalization programs in connection with the pandemic, the implementation of its and sanctions by Western countries. According to the author, these adjustments, being objectively determined, significantly affected the dynamics and results of the process of digital transformation of the country’s economy. The author mainly uses the economic and statistical method of quantitative analysis of indicators for the period 2022-2024. At the same time, he analyzes the cause-and-effect relationships that determined the dynamics of the analyzed indicators. The results and conclusions of the research are disclosed based on the use of logical, qualitative and quantitative analysis methods. The findings can be used both for further research on the problem and for the practical implementation of the National Data Economics Project.
