The need of the world community for an objective quantitative measurement of poverty of the population at the international and national levels as an integral component in the implementation of the goals of the concept of sustainable development of mankind until 2030, related to overcoming poverty; as well as the use of national indicators developed in the Russian Federation (RF) and international experience for a quantitative assessment of absolute and relative monetary poverty of the population determines the relevance of this study. The article presents the results of the structural and dynamic analysis of absolute and relative monetary poverty of the population of the RF for 2017-2023, based on population censuses, the results of annual sample surveys of household budgets, low-income households, panel observations of Rosstat on changes in the poverty line of the population in the constituent entities of the RF; the main trends for the study period are identified; the forecast values of the poverty level of the population of the RF for 2025 with different approaches to its measurement are determined; changes in territorial inequality of the constituent entities of the RF in the Federal Districts in terms of per capita monthly cash income and the poverty line are assessed in comparison with the all-Russian level. The proposed methodological approach and the obtained results are of scientific and practical interest to statisticians, economists and sociologists studying the phenomenon of poverty of the population, and to territorial government bodies for the development of national and regional social policy
