Platform market as a new form of development of the industrial market: theoretical interpretation
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
The current stage of development of the industry market is closely related to the digitalization of economic activity and the formation of platforms. In scientific research, the term "platform" has firmly entered scientific circulation and is used both in the context of analyzing B2C markets and business models and business ecosystems, however, the study of industry market platforms, B2B markets, can be considered insufficient. The purpose of the study is to classify approaches to the interpretation of the platform market on the basis of theoretical analysis and to develop the author's concept of the industrial platform market. The main research methods were theoretical and methodological analysis, generalization and comparison of the main concepts of industry market development. Based on the systemic and structural-logical analysis of theoretical approaches to the interpretation of the platform concept, the features of the industry industrial market, it is proposed to consider the platform (platform market) as a system of interaction between industrial market participants within the framework of horizontal and vertical integration based on the use of technological solutions, diffusion of innovations in order to improve business performance for all participants in the value chain. This interpretation defines the specifics of the current stage of industrial market development based on the formation of digital capital and allows us to highlight the features of the platform model of the industry industrial market. Based on the systematization of the main essential characteristics of the platform model of the industry industrial market (innovation potential and the number of platform participants), four types are identified: a platform model focused on the mechanisms of deliberative coordination and aimed at forming an industrial ecosystem; a corporate model that involves the development of a platform based on a hierarchical structure; a hybrid model of maximizing network effects due to the high involvement of a large number of platform participants; a distributed model as a combination of competition mechanisms and mutual integration of participants. The results obtained are the basis for the subsequent development of a methodological toolkit for assessing the processes of industrial digitalization, developing programs for the development of the industry industrial market, digital development of mechanical engineering and state industrial policy.
